I felt compelled to blog about a window treatment style that gets either overlooked or frowned upon because of their formal nature. Primarily because I was still on an install high at the end of last week after seeing my installer transform a dining room with these beautiful treatments. Swags and Jabots have been around for a long time and they are still timeless and when used appropriately, are works of art! Yes, they can be formal but if you have a formal room, they can work perfectly to pull it all together and add a wow factor! My Brookline client was thrilled with the outcome.
When I decided that draperies would not work based on the floor air vents directly where drapes would hang on both windows, I came up with another option. With a few sketches and hand samples to help visualize it for them, we were on our way in search of a fabric. The client fell is in love with this silk and linen blend from Robert Allen with a very faint greek key as the background. We used a soft gold chintz as a contrast on the Jabots and a double tassel trim from Kravet along the entire treatment. Wow. This room can take it!
